I have been writing about the politics and culture of parenting and caregiving for more than fifteen years. My work appears in publications like the Atlantic, the New York Times, Glamour, ELLE, TheWeek.com and elsewhere, and I was a former contributing writer at CNN.com and Slate, where my cultural criticism about motherhood appeared on DoubleX. My book, When You Care: The Unexpected Magic of Caring for Others, is out now from Gallery Books.
I also work in curation and cultural programming. I am the associate director of LABA: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture, a global artists incubator program which uses ancient Jewish texts to inspire the creation of new culture and conversation, and the artistic director of the LABA hub in the Bay Area. Additionally, I am the senior curator of the 2024 California Jewish Open at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco.
I live in Oakland, California, with my husband and our two sons.
I am represented by Jamie Carr of The Book Group.
