“When I left the evangelical fold I changed my mind. But it took far longer to change my domineering qualities. I’m still battling them, but it has gotten better. Genie, as I’ve said, was my tutor. Her method combined gentle persuasion, reason, love, forgiveness, furious screaming, and threats of divorce, good sex and threats of no sex, and door slamming. Her project became my project too: a behavior modification and healing process I chose to be initiated into. I chose it because I loved Genie.
