“Let’s fast-forward to some conclusions you might expect to find as a recap near the end of a book. I’m putting this list here because I want to lay my cards on the table upfront regarding the social, political, spiritual, and lifestyle changes I hope this book will help bring about. And I’ll do my best to back up the reasons for this list’s demands in the rest of the book. In the changed and better America, I hope you’ll join me in fighting for the following:
Gay, nonbinary, transgender—all forms of parenthood would be encouraged and supported.
Relationship success rather than career success would be regarded as the highest human achievement.
Parents in all professions would have socially desirable options regarding who goes to work and who stays home with young children, trading roles until their kids were in school.
Bringing preschool children to work would be an everyday thing because many workplace nurseries would be the norm.
The flexibility to work from home would be an option for many more people.
Comfortable, safe places to pump breast milk—lactation rooms—would be as commonplace as restrooms in all buildings.
Sex education would begin in kindergarten, prioritize relationship training, civility, and consent.
In other words, we would adjust our society, education, family life, and political and economic lives to comply with the most basic evolutionary prime directive of all: the survival of the friendliest.”
